Why

I really encourage all students to take part in every recital opportunity! Recitals are so much more than just performances; they’re a chance for students to showcase all their hard work and for family and friends to come together and celebrate their achievements. I’ve experienced firsthand how inspiring recitals can be—they’re fantastic motivators and really boost self-confidence!

As an educator, I’ve noticed that students who participate in recitals truly excel in their music learning. Since much of music education is more abstract, it can be tough for kids (and parents) to see progress. Recitals provide a wonderful opportunity to share that journey.

We always have a great turnout of beginner students at our recitals, and they are absolutely the most fun to watch! So let’s make the most of these opportunities together!

Dress Code

In the past, I have received a number of questions regarding the appropriate dress code for the recital. Please reference the following guidelines for both students and families:

  • The dress code for the recital is formal as this is a special occasion

  • Think "clean and classy," not just "cute"

  • The following clothing items are examples of appropriate attire:

    • Slacks

    • Suit jacket/sport coat

    • Button-down collar shirt

    • Tie (optional)

    • Full suit

    • Slacks/Chinos

    • Dress (preferably linen or similar material)

      • Girls are not required to wear a dress, but if they wear pants, they should be slacks/chinos style

  • Please note that the following items are examples of attire to avoid:

    • Jeans (regardless of how dark or light they are)

    • Leggings as pants (leggings under a dress are okay)

    • Shorts

    • T-shirts

    • Skirts

    • Tennis shoes/sneakers (yes, even the $300 pair)

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • After the Certificate Ceremony is over, you may enjoy the refreshments.

Step 5 - Done!
